Andy, I did not remove the words "to counsel on abortions". Attempting to patronisingly accuse people of lying is what makes so many people on here just give up and call you a cunt (which is what I suspect you want me to do). I'm aware that the term "promoting" may well be used liberally in this bill. My point is that Trump (re)instating this bill is being painted as something its not, and a gaggle of screaming students and cat ladies dressed in vagina shaped hats and holding placards demanding free tampons and comparing themselves to guns and suffragettes and making no mention of this bill (or FGM, forced marriages, honour killings etc.) wins them absolutely no fans or support amongst the wider public and ultimately does no good.
This is the last time I will reply to you so don't bother with a retort.

You simply took as read what Wikipedia said on it without noticing that the source of that description was George W Bush and conveniently removed the key words "to counsel on abortions"
As such, you sounding like the republican mouthpiece is compelling understandable.

I see AfM has gone from accusing me of "pretending" (ie lying) to "using the exact words but in the wrong way".
My understanding is that the bill does what it says on the tin, and that is withhold US funding from any NGO which promotes abortion.
If you think there's some sinister hidden meaning then that's up to you.

That seems to be your response when you know you are wrong but fair enough.
Knowing that the 1973 Helms amendment already prohibits US money being spent on abortions abroad so that money was NOT spent on those things.
Therefore knowing that Trump signing this ensures that US is not spent on providing advice and support to women in difficult (to say the least) circumstances who otherwise often take very dangerous steps to end their pregnancy.
Do you see why you focussing on the words "promote and provide" you were being a bit misleading as to your complete lack of care about the topic?
